Mahlet Teklemariam is the founder and organizer of Hub of Africa Addis Fashion Week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, since 2010, which has revolutionized the fashion industry in Ethiopia and beyond. She has positioned HAFW as a platform for advocating for ecoconscious practices within the fashion industry. In 2025, Mahlet was recognized as part of The Business of Fashion 500 Class of 2025, a global index that highlights individuals shaping the future of the fashion industry. Mahlet has also had the opportunity to participate in multiple international forums and panel discussions, sharing insights on the growth of Africa’s creative industries. These include global platforms such as the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, as well as other international events where she has been invited to share my perspective on fashion, culture, and entrepreneurship.
